Google is introducing a new program to find & resolve vulnerabilities in popular Android apps in its Google Play storefront. The Google Play Security Reward Program will reward $1,000 researchers who resolves problems in popular Android apps found in the Google Play store which meets the program’s criteria. Google is trying to raise the standards of the Android apps found in the Play store.
Google is implementing this Google Play Security Reward Program by partnering with HackerOne, a bug bounty program management platform, and app developers . The bug bounty program includes only some popular apps that have signed up for the program. So far, popular Android apps like Tinder, Snapchat, Dropbox, Alibaba, Duolingo, Mail.Ru, Line, Headspace have made it to the list, and more apps are likely to sign up in the coming days.
